Fanfic, Marvel Adventures: Avengers

My Yuletide fic!

I should also include links to the two awesome Yuletide fics that I received: Another Rainbow in Another Sky, a My Little Pony story, and Birds of a Feather: An Origin Story, an Astro City story.  Needless to say I was ecstatic to get presents from two of my favorite fandoms of all time!

Fanfic post, Ultimate Spider-Man

Right-o, so, forget about me being a regular anything.  Consider me the kindly aunt who drops by for a visit without calling first.  I give up.  But!  This time I come bearing fanfic.  People may have seen this already, it's my 3_ships fic, but I wanted to archive it here for completeness's sake.  I'll probably be posting my Yuletide fic here too, on the order of soonish, and then maybe some new fic.  I've been writing, I just haven't been posting!  Also, it's mostly not DC fanfic, but whatever.  I've been on the outs with DC since they canceled Blue Beetle and Birds of Prey.  Wonder Woman is good (I like Gail Simone pretty much all the time), but I miss Oracle.  At least we still get BB in the back of Booster Gold.

Title: Confused-Ticky-Box Life
Fandom: Marvel comics, Ultimate Universe
Pairing/Characters: Jessica Drew/Kitty Pryde/Mary-Jane Watson
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: Ultimate Spider-Man belongs to Marvel.
Author's Note: Takes a slight detour at the end of the Clone Saga, and doesn't consider Ultimatum.

Eee!  I've never done Yuletide before, so I don't know how it's worked in the past, but I just posted my fic (done early!  That never happens) and on AO3 you can see when someone has posted gift-fic for you, which led to much squeeing earlier when I saw my Yuletide gift had already been posted!   It's amazing the Christmas-morning glee this induced.

I went back to edit two stupid formatting mistakes in my fic, and when I logged back onto AO3, I saw ANOTHER Yuletide fic for me had been posted!  I don't even know what to do with the silly, giddy happiness here.  WHY DO I HAVE TO WAIT SO LONG TO READ THEM AND LAVISH PRAISE ON THEIR AUTHORS?

Seriously, I feel eight years old again, sitting in my bed waiting for the sun to rise so I can open presents.

This gift-fic exchange thing is awesome.  I think it'll catch on.

The Princess and the Frog!

Yuletide and 3_ships fics coming along nicely, having a good holiday season, also I SAW THE PRINCESS AND THE FROG, PEOPLE, AND IT IS AWESOME.

Disney's first traditionally-animated film in more than five years is set in 1920s New Orleans, and our main character is Tiana--a girl after my own heart. Tiana is wonderful, the animation is gorgeous, the music made me dance in my seat and the story is true Disney magic.

You might have doubts. I did. The hiccuppy firefly and giant aligator in the preview alarmed me, but the lure of traditional animation and a 1920s fairy tale got me into the theater, and I am SO glad I went. I've been humming the music since I got home! And there's a LOT of music. None of this five songs per movie stuff. There's a song everywhere a song would be good for the story.

If you're rushing to finish Yuletide or another holiday fic exchange, if your family's driving you crazy, if you have little ones (or not so little ones!) who need entertainment, head out to your local theater and check out The Princess and the Frog. I LOVED IT.

Yuletide Letter Coming Soon!

I am posting because Yuletide assignments have been sent, and I do not have a Dear Yuletide letter yet! I am having a temporary case of Real Life, and will post one soon, so if my author is reading this, fear not! I figure I will post the letter Monday afternoon/evening, Tuesday at the latest.

Thanks for your patience!

I'm back! . . . kinda.

The "kinda" meaning that there likely won't be frequent updates, nor am I (sadly) bearing fanfic.  There are a few pieces that I've been picking at for months (most notably, the next "House of El" story and the sequel to "Saving Grace"), but nothing's finished yet and I don't know when they will be.

With luck, though, you should start seeing my comments around occasionally.

In an attempt to ease back into the internet/fandom, I've also signed up for 3_ships, a "Holiday gift exchange for threesome romantic fanfiction" (in the words of their profile).  There are a lot of fandoms this year, including DC and Marvel comics, Stargate and Trek, Torchwood, Smallville, Heroes, Chuck, PotC, Buffy and Angel, NCIS, Harry Potter, and a whole lot more.  Come on over and check us out, the sign-up deadline is October 30th, and stories aren't due till December 29th.

Logging out

So, you may or may not have noticed an absence on my part for a few weeks.  RL can be a bitch, and for the first time ever I'm not even really reading stuff right now.  So I thought I should let people know that I'm bowing out for a month or two--and unlike the past, I'm not going to be able to make an effort to read and comment, even.  So, know that I'm still with y'all in spirit, and I'll be back, just--yeah.  Don't worry about me, I'm just busy.

And to celebrate my new and internet-less lifestyle, I leave you with the last (?) Voyager fanfic in this series.
